Just For You

If you need an organ transplant, once you’re accepted into a transplant program, your name will be placed by your transplant center onto the national computerized waiting list. The list is maintained by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) in Richmond, VA.

The waiting list contains detailed information about each patient including:

  • Blood type
  • Degree of medical urgency
  • Other data important for matching donors to recipients, including time waiting on the list

Lists are specific to both geographic area and organ type (heart, lung, kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, heart-lung, or kidney-pancreas).
