Donate Life America

Donate Life America was founded by the transplant community in 1992 to educate the public about organ, eye and tissue donation and avoid duplication of effort. The local coalition is Donate Life Greater New York. This site lists organ donor registry information for each state in the United States that operates one. www.donatelife.net



Donate Life Greater New York

Donate Life Greater New York is a group of nonprofit organizations dedicated to educating the public about the need for organ, eye and tissue donation in the greater New York metropolitan area. The national organization is known as Donate Life America. The regional coalition is headed by LiveOnNY and The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration, Inc, and it is joined by other organizations:

Donate Life Greater New York works to create awareness of the ability of organ, eye and tissue donation to restore recipients to meaningful and productive lives; dispel myths about donation, encourage individuals to consider donation and provide guidance on how to become donors. The major focus is to increase enrollments in the New York State Donate Life Registry.

Greater New York Hospital Association

Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), founded in 1904, is trade association comprising nearly 300 hospitals and continuing care facilities, both voluntary and public, in the metropolitan New York area and throughout the State, as well as New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. www.gnyha.org



Halachic Organ Donor Society (HODS)

The HODS mission is to save lives by increasing organ donations from Jews to the general population (Jews and non-Jews alike). In addition to promoting donor registration in each state, including New York, HODS offer a unique organ donor card that enables Jews to donate organs according to their halachic belief. www.hods.org

The New York Alliance for Donation is a non-profit organization comprised of organ and tissue recovery organizations throughout New York State, health professionals and individuals whose lives have been affected by donation. Its primary goal is to increase donation through education and awareness.

The United Hospital Fund is a nonprofit health services research and philanthropic organization whose mission is to shape positive change in health care for the people of New York.




United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)

Located in Richmond Virginia, UNOS is a non-profit, scientific and educational organization that administers the nation’s only Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, established by the U.S. Congress in 1984. UNOS also operates an informational Web site for patients who wish to learn more about organ donation and the transplantation process: www.transplantliving.org. It includes updated daily news about patient transplant-specific news reports, reports on FDA approval activity, and clinical issues. 




United States Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS)

The Department of Health and Human Services is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.
